PSSI’s Project Manager Kristína Šefčíková Joins Panel on Disinformation and Its Impact on Evidence-Based Policy

PSSI’s Project Manager Kristína Šefčíková participated in a discussion titled Disinformation as a tool for “changing course” in evidence-based policy, organized by the Charles University Environment Centre in cooperation with the The United Nations Information Centre Prague (UNIC) and the Society for Sustainable Living.
The discussion focused on how to counter the changing climate in society, where even our friends believe and spread unverified information and scientific findings are constantly challenged.
The discussion focused on a current societal challenge: how to respond to the spread of unverified information that undermines trust in science, weakens democratic institutions and contributes to the erosion of public space. The panellists considered why people often willingly succumb to misinformation, what psychological and social mechanisms are behind it, and whether the information environment can be cultivated – for example, by regulating technology or promoting digital literacy.
